They made it: a rookie team full of expectations and dreams, with much to win, a team made of the dream of Mathew “Matt” Campbell made reality for all the El Martillo Racing, team who became one of the finishers of the most impressive, tough, overwhelming and difficult races in the world.
The 18th of January 2014 will be remembered in the memory of many off road Baja fans, but mostly for the teammates of El Martillo Racing, actually a NAFTA team consisten of Canadians, Americans and Mexicans who dared to challenge the major league of off road racing in the world: The Dakar.
Achieving the 46th position in the 13rd stage and 52nd overall, becoming part of the history for being the 1st Baja California Sur based team attempting this gorgeous adventure and making it real at the moment they crossed the finish-line podium in Valparaíso, Chile.
The 13th and last stage of the Rally was not complicated after the pit crew lead by Mike Julson / JIMCO motorsports again changed a clutch the night before to the very last challenge of the Dakar 2014, the team made a 52nd very acceptable position and also got the 2nd place of the OP1 class after two weeks of the hardest days of our lives.

A team of rookies achieving to finish and see the checkers flag in the most important marathon-rally of the world.
The entire team learned something during this wild, crazy, addictive trip, they had bad times, problems and a low profile helpful for a first-timer team.
Matt Campbell Team Principal assembled such a great team setting everything to make history and beyond many people expectations, became a finisher of the brutal race… Many did not make it, renowned stars and masters of this sport could not got to Valparaíso, and we did.
The car worked very well according to the terrain expectations, sometimes with some advantages and some others paying the cost but at last ending the 14 days event where since the renowned builder to the successful entrepreneur, and of course everybody else of the team, had something to learn in this dream called Dakar.
